3LEKTRA Another gem by Jay Sound. Hypnotically beautiful, vulnerable, powerful and emotional.
This is healing music.
Listening to Red Skies as I type. Got me in the calm state of mind I needed to be in. Such a mesmerising tune! But honestly… I have different fav JS tracks for different emotions and moods. There’s no option in choosing 1. Please, do yourself a huge favour and explore all his releases :) Favorite track: Red Skies.

about

Paradise Motel, Sunrise...the story continues within Jay Sounds first ever EP Universe. Coming into Chapter III "Sunset".

"Sunset is a heavy take on late 80s/early 90s Jazz Fusion & electronic music. I wanted to challenge myself with making a predominately more live influenced instrumentation & fusion esq body of work for this particular story, somewhat resembling my work from "Japan" just not AS soundtrack heavy this time." - Jay Sound

Sunset takes us on a journey of dusky Sunfall beaches of the late 80s/early 90s, humid dance floors, warm percussive rhythms & Coconut & Pineapple infused atmospheres. Opening with "Red Skies" that truly sets the tone for Jays entire project with atmospheric dream pad chords, angelic keys, sensual percussion with lush Fret Bass & Electric Guitar licks through out. Even with "Palms At Dusk" a gorgeous nostalgic take on Jazz Fusion, something someone would imagine seeing live from the likes of George Duke or Joan Bibiloni. Truly one of Jays greatest creations if we're being honest, perfect for any coastline drive or wine down in the sun.

In Japan "Nitchibotsu" translates to Sunset, which is the title of Chapter III's body of work. A Deep House journey featuring the iconic sounds of the Roland D-50, Korg M1 & Jays personal fav, the Shakuhachi Flute of Japan. "I would be remiss if i didn't say the likes of Soshi Takeda didn't inspire this track for me, having street dance be a huge background for me, this track was crafted for the House Dancers around the world, specifically those from Japan." Nitchibotsu takes on an almost ethereal sound from complex key patterns, blissful DX7 keys, classic Roland 909 4/4 that Jay is so known for curating. Truly a track you won't wanna listen to once, another Sundown dance floor hit.

"Best Friends" is probably the last track that made it on "Sunset", it comes from me missing my best friend actually, because we no longer live close to each other and i think of her every day missing all the memories we've created & how connected we are. SO this piece was more of a love letter to friendships & it felt perfect for this story within this album. Who knows maybe someone can relate to this track as well."

At this point it sounds almost scripted to say Jay has outdone himself, but each time he finds a way to outdo his previous work somehow. The journey & evolution of his maturity in both arrangement & sonics is nothing short of genius to say the least. Jays Chapter III of his EP universe "Sunset" we believe encapsulates that flawlessly.

We hope you enjoy this beautiful & sonically gorgeous musical journey Jay Sound has crafted for this world as much as we have.
