about

Allow us to travel to one of the most magical places on Earth, Japan. Detroit's own sophomore LP is here, following the success of his debut 80s/90s dream world release "Playlist To Paradise". Jay is carving his name in the deep atmosphere of composers when it comes to deep underground musical magic.

A unique album this one, as Jay states this body of work takes place in the setting of 1990. "I spent 4 months in Roppongi for work, but was privileged enough to travel around many magical places like Nik-Ko, Kyoto, Okinawa, Zamami, Hokane & more within that time. I got to see breathtaking places i'v only dreamed of. So this trip really inspired me beyond measure, so i wanted to pay tribute to how much of an impact it had on me over those 4 short months."

"I went with the setting 1990 because i grew up in the 90s and tons of the films i watched had a very mysterious and almost gritty, dark element to it that kept me wanting more. So with that & me spending time in Japan i feel that place emulates how i felt in the 90s in so many ways. I wanted to maintain that energy in this Soundtrack body of work."

A different route going more heavy within New Age, Jazz, Ambient & even Soundtrack. This truly showcases Jays ability to so accurately bring a world to life through his music while expressing much his musical range, once again.

Unique blends like "Arashiyama" a beautiful fusion of Jazz & New Age of Grand Piano contrasted with digital & analog synthesis. Or his soundtrack driven "Ancient Temple" which carries 90s drama/action film type elements filled with cinematic chords & other worldly type compositions. Honored with Pan Flutes, Shakuhachi's, Marimbas, Pads, Grand Pianos & so much more that captivate such a vast world such as the depths of Japan.

This album may not be for the likes of a club, but this is surely a journey type of an album to get completely lost in and have on repeat that will last as long as the ruins as Japan it self. Sit back, relax & welcome to Japan.
